Shopify speed optimization

Speed up the Shopify store without guessing at apps

Theme weight, app scripts, images, and Core Web Vitals—fixed in the order that shoppers feel.

Zqdo speeds up Shopify storefronts when performance is dragging conversion or paid efficiency. This is the commercial service paired with our Shopify performance guides.

The service

Shopify performance as a product constraint

Shopify performance optimization is the work of making storefronts load and respond quickly enough that shoppers stay. Theme efficiency, media, third-party scripts, and operational habits all matter.

On Tennis Express we audited Core Web Vitals, JavaScript weight, and third-party scripts on money templates. With Tushbaby, performance work included asset cleanup, image optimization, lazy loading, and pruning theme/app complexity so mobile journeys stayed fast as marketing velocity increased.

We measure before and after, and we will tell you when an app is the problem versus when the theme itself needs a refactor.

Who it’s for

Who this is for

Shopify brands that already suspect the store is too heavy.

  • Merchants with poor mobile speed or Core Web Vitals
  • Stores that added apps until PDPs lagged
  • Teams whose theme vendor says speed is “fine”
  • Brands about to scale paid traffic

Problems we solve

Problems we fix on slow Shopify stores

Most slow stores have a short list of real causes. We find that list.

  • The homepage and PDP feel slow on phones

We profile LCP and the network waterfall on the templates that make money.

  • Too many apps inject JavaScript

Each app is evaluated on conversion value versus speed cost.

  • Product media is oversized

Image strategy is implemented, not just recommended.

  • Liquid is doing too much work

Theme logic is simplified where it is blocking render.

What’s included

What Shopify speed work includes

A focused implementation, not a 40-page audit you cannot act on.

  • Storefront performance audit

Theme, apps, media, and third-party tags.

  • High-impact fixes

Code, media, and app changes that move LCP and INP.

  • App stack recommendations

Keep, replace, or remove—with a reason.

  • Measurement

Before-and-after on the templates that matter.

Process

How we speed up Shopify

The same sequence we teach in the guides, applied to your theme.

  1. 01

    Measure

Mobile-first baselines on PDP, collection, and home.

    • CWV
    • Waterfall
    • Apps
  2. 02

    Prioritize

    Largest constraint first.

    • Theme
    • Apps
    • Media
  3. 03

    Implement

    Ship on staging, then production.

    • Code
    • Config
    • QA
  4. 04

    Protect

Rules so the next install does not undo the work.

    • App policy
    • Monitoring

FAQ

Shopify speed FAQs

  • Why is my Shopify store slow?

Common causes include heavy themes, too many apps, unoptimized images, expensive Liquid, and third-party scripts—especially on mobile. The first job is diagnosis, not installing a speed app.

  • Will a speed app fix this?

Sometimes a caching or image tool helps. Often it adds another script. We prefer fixing the theme and the app stack over stacking another optimization layer.

  • Can speed work increase conversion?

Yes. Faster pages reduce bounce and friction across browsing and checkout. It is one of the more reliable conversion levers because it helps every visitor.
